The Enriqueta Villavecchia Foundation, with a decades-long history dedicated to improving the quality of life of children with serious illnesses and accompanying their families, promotes the creation of a pioneering project in Catalonia: the first country pediatric hospice. This center, located in the historic Pavilion of Santa Victoria within the precinct of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, will offer comprehensive care focused on all the dimensions of the minor —physics, Emotional, social, spiritual and educational—and will complement traditional hospital care.
The Hospice will be a space prepared to accompany children with diseases that limit life and their families in a dignified and personalized way. It will have rest and family respite areas, support and leisure programs, and adequate environments for the last days of life, addressing a need that today has no response in Catalonia.
The rehabilitation works of the building have already begun, but now the great challenge is to get the necessary funds to complete the reform and launch the project.
